Homeless pets in Sacramento are remebered this holiday season. Local pets who live on the street have become beneficiaries of the holiday gift-giving and rely on charity for food and medicine. Medical treatment is also received from a nonprofit? Veterinary clinic which? is run by a team of veterinary students and doctors? who have been volunteering? since 1992. Inside a trailer, dogs, cats and other homeless pets? are weighed, prodded and given critical vaccinations.?

Throughout the year, the auxiliary helps support Pregnancy Solutions, March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, D.A.S.H. and other local organizations. This year, they hope to help out with the new addition being built at St. Raphael Catholic Church with the monies raised.

Two weeks before Christmas, distribution of donated food and gift baskets will begin in a Daytona Beach? community. Sponsored by a local radio station and the Council on Aging of Volusia County, this marks the 25th annual “Santa for Seniors”. Dozens of people drove to collection sites to drop off everything from can goods to bathrobes. “Santa for Seniors” has raised over $150,000 since its start.

Members of the Legacy Corps, which? is part of the AmeriCorps program, prepared 26 gift baskets? for homebound elders living in Isleta Pueblo. The gift baskets were provided and distributed by members of the newly established Legacy Corps respite care program.?  AmeriCorps is a network of more than 3,000 non-profit organizations, public agencies and faith-based organizations. President Bill Clinton created it in 1993.?
